If you need to access the health benefit in the United States, follow these steps:

  1. Visit a provider in the UnitedHealthcare medical network and present your insurance card. To locate nearby physicians and hospitals, call (505) 8833-9745 (ASSA 24/7). In an emergency, go to the nearest hospital.
  2. When providing services, the provider will verify your eligibility, deductibles, coinsurance and the coverage conditions of your policy. The provider will then bill the international health product (as the insured, you are responsible for paying the deductible and coinsurance corresponding to your benefit, as well as amounts not covered by your policy or that exceed usual, reasonable and customary charges).
  3. The provider will send your claim to UnitedHealthcare Costa Rica, and you will receive the Explanation of Benefits report.

Participating hospitals may vary at the time you use the benefit, according to the medical specialty required.
